Plumeria - Blog hop

It is blog hop time again at @Jane's Doodles. There are 2 new stamp sets Plumeria and kind. Plumeria is a perfect set for all your spring time cards.

Both the sets are so out of the box. Love the plumeria because they are fun to color and cluster plus individual flowers gives you flexibility to use it in many ways. The sentiments are wonderful too. Instead of just plain thank you, such sentiments add pop on the cards. 

Here is my cards with Plumeria. I took a different route then usual (i.e. stamping and coloring the flowers) to use the floral stamps. 

I used few scrap of colored card stock to construct my panel. Flowers are heat embossed in white and added white details with pencil. 

For the second card also I used same card stock but used copper embossing powder and thanks die cut from a metallic, copper card stock.

The next two cards are perfect examples for mass production.

I used Misti to stamp the images and heat embossed them in white & gold. The White is actually pearlescent card stock but in oicture it liiks like textured one. Check the image below to see it.

CrafTangle liquid water colors

Hello Friends,

Today, I am sharing my creations created using CrafTangles Liquid Water Colors. These are super vibrant, die based water colors. They retain their brightness even after drying. they are so saturated that a drop of pure color goes long way. They have released 7 colors as of now. I hope they will add more to their collection.

Being water color they are easy to mix and make a new color. I tried some mixing ...check the new colors I got...:)

Pardon my ugly handwriting & few spelling mistakes...:P but this was just for my reference and it turned out  good that I thought of sharing with you. That teal with Poolside and evergreen is my favorite.  You can change the tone by controlling one color over another in a mixture. I made one card using that color.

Here, I just made gradient background on water color paper using a flat brush. Allow it to dry. Emboss the floral image in white. The stamps are from Jane's Doodles. I simply lift the colors by painting inside the embossed image with water and lifting it with paper towel. Repeat the process to get more contrast.

I also made some backgrounds while playing with it.

I just sprayed water on water color paper and dropped liquid colors on them. It is so much fun to see those interesting patterns it creates!

I cut the first one and made it into two cards using CrafTangles stamp set. 

Next, I tried these colors as a coloring medium for stamped image. For that I have used Jane's Doodles Magnolia set. I love these flowers and thought they are perfect to color them with these vibrant colors.

I have used Soulmate and Ripe plum to color flowers and Evergreen and poolside for diecut leaves.

I am in awe of these colors. Can't tell you how bright they are. 

Now, next experiment is interesting as it is first for me too. I tried these colors on YUPO paper. If you don't know, YUPO is a synthetic paper which feels like plastic but it is mat and kind of new substrate to work with. I use it extensively for my alcohol ink arts. 

Let's see how I used it with liquid water colors.

I pour little bit of highly diluted color on yupo paper and blow dried it by moving the hair dryer in circular motion around edges of the puddle.

One more interesting property of yupo is that you can lift inks or colors very easily. It will stain the paper a little but you can wipe it clean with water.

Check what I did...

I I Painted the yupo with diluted Ripe Plum color. Let it dry. Lift the color with baby wipe through stencil to give that bleached effect. The only thing with yupo is you have to seal your work or it will easily come off. I use Kamar Varnish by Crylon. You can try spray varnishes available at your local art store.

I love math challenge #12

Hello Crafty Math loving friends,

It is time for another I Love Math Challenge. We are on the 12th challenge already! We never knew we would come this far when we started. Thanks to all the participants who kept on playing. And big thanks to Milka who is the organizer of it. If you are new to this, you can check Milka's post HERE to know our design team and rules.

For today's challenge, the math part is geometrical shape/shapes and theme is Birthday ! I have selected the circle shape to go with my sentiment die.

Yes, it is a very simple design but those colors gives an instant lift to the over all look. I have used

CrafTangles' liquid water colors . Aren't they gorgeous!!! Please stay tuned as I am doing a blogpost reviewing them.

January- Thyroid Awareness Month

Hello friends,

 

Today, I am posting this card as part of of a blog hop which is organized by my awesome friend , Milka to spread awareness of the need for preventive screening and early detection of thyroid disease to avoid unpleasant illnesses and dangerous complications.

Along with me there are total 26 designers from all over the world taking part in this hop. I feel honored to be part of this hop. Milka, I am thankful to you to invite me for this initiative.

The aim of the hop is to support Thyroid Awareness Month and to raise public awareness of the importance of a Thyroid Gland and problems it can cause when not working properly.Thyroid disorders pose a significant threat when prolonged or in the acute presentation, and are potentially serious disorders with symptoms that range from non-specific constitutional to subtle or frank neuropsychiatric symptoms. 

Being a Hypothyroid ( when the thyroid gland activity is abnormally low) patient for last 10 years myself, this hop is close to my heart. I am dealing with weight gain, edema, thinning hairline, dry skin, poor memory etc. I have to take my medication for the rest of my life and still have to deal with all those symptoms. I have to be very careful with my diet and constantly struggle to loose weight (Which is not happening - no matter how hard I try, I gain it back so fast - so easily) . I have to  keep adjusting the dose of the medication too. I’ve learned my body well enough to know when I’m feeling like I need to adjust medication dosage . Medicine is necessary to balance the hormone but you need yoga, meditation and exercise to keep your stress level under control. Between medication and lifestyle change I've learnt to live my life happily! So you can imagine  how crafting is helping me to deal with these crappy disease. 

So coming to the crafting part, I made this card around the sentiment. We were suppose to use the blue color, paisley and butterfly as the thyroid gland looks like butterfly. 

The butterfly is from Verve Stamps( sadly... they are no longer in business) , paisley from papertrey ink and sentiment is by MFT. 

Yes, life is tough but we are way stronger than we think! I feel Challenges are what make life interesting.
