Jane's Birthday Blog Hop

 Hello friends,

Today, I am here to celebrate Jane's (Jane's Doodles) Birthday! She is turning 46 (shhhhhh.... 😊) . We are having a blog hop where all of us will feature our favorite stamp set.

Speaking of favorite, I have many! I love her stamps as they are very cute, simple and many a times very unique. Today, I am choosing Free As A Bird  stamp set to work with. I love the whimsical, unique, happy, chirpy birds in this set. there are multiple images of flying, standing, dancing birds. They are fun to color and easy to use to create a scene or story on the card.

Here is a card and tags I made with it.

Aren't they cute? The design clearly says that there are many birds out there but you are the best. The variation in images i.e. flying and standing birds made it easy to create the narrative. Those tiny stamps of clouds and heart help to add to the scene and enhance the meaning of sentiment.
Gosh, I never realized how much thinking goes in making a card until I reflected upon my thought process.

While coloring an image is the first and the most common use of a stamp, these tags show how you can use those cuties without coloring.

Check that stamp set! you can see how loved it is! Those yellow cutouts are masks created from post it notes which i store with the set.

Tags are double layered ! For two of the tags, I cut the upper tag and stamp that tiny leaves on lower tag to add interest .

I hope you can see why I like this set so much.

Following are 2 more cards which I created in the past using the same stamp set.

The sentiment is from other stamp set of Jane's Doodles but it reflects the attitude of these happy, dancing birds. Don't you think so?

Giveaway & Discount

There is 24 hrs sale where all the stamps are 46% off. Now, that is huge, isn't it?
She will also choose a winner from all the blog comments who will get a stamp set of her choice.

CrafTangles - Liquid Glaze Review

 Hello friends,

Today, I am sharing my experiments using Craftangles' Liquid glaze. It is an acrylic medium which can be used as it is as a top coat for any ink, decoupage or acrylic painting. You can mix it with regular acrylic paints and make it work as pouring medium. once it is dry, it is super glossy like resin  and hard enough to protect your work.

Lets start with the projects.

I was super curious to see if it works to coat my alcohol ink art. I tried directly on a sample piece but glaze fades the ink. I use this Kamar Varnish By Kylon to seal all my ink art. I had this ink work done on a coaster which I sealed with Kamar varnish, let it dry and added a coat of Craftangle liquid glaze.

I poured  enough glaze so that it will cover the whole coaster uniformly but will not drip from the sides. I allowed it to dry over night. It was looking fantastic in the morning. all leveled up and shiny.

Isn't it gorgeous??

I always struggle with resin. I find it to messy and don't like the smell too. This liquid glaze has no smell and no need to measure & mix resin and clean up the after mess. It is very convenient.

For second project, I used golden acrylic inks on Yupo paper.

I applied various colors on yupo, allowed it to dry.

Cut few petal shapes and a pot shape. Adhere all in a collage on a coaster with glue.

I applied 2 coats of glaze with a brush. Allow first coat dry totally before applying 2nd coat. Unlike alcohol inks, acrylic inks don't need sealing with Kamar varnish. Bingo!

I used Golden high flow inks but you can use Daler Rowney inks too. They stay vibrant as they do not react with the glaze. A coat of glaze add so much of depth to the colors.

Third project is quite similar to above one.

I took a round coaster and applied light blue ink for sky on 2/3 part of it.

Cut and adhere different green and yellow pieces for hills. Added some details with white gel pen. Golden pen for some more details and sun.

This is how I elevate the art work before pouring coat of glaze

Cover it with a lid so no dust particles will settle on it while drying.

Check the depth and shine.

For the last project, I tried to use it as pouring medium. I took a dollop of regular acrylic paint from a tube in a small cup and add double amount of glaze to it. Mix it well and use it as pour paint on any surface. One thing I have to point it out that the glaze  is heat sensitive so you can not use heat tool to move the paint around. I used straw and a wooden skewer to create ripple effect.

I am not super happy with this one. I needed more color but it was late and i was tired so spread the color little too thin. I have to try this again. I will share soon.

I hope you got an idea of the glaze. Try it out. It is an amazing product. See you soon with some pouring.

Thank you so much for being here.

This set is so beautiful. I spent 3 and a half hours coloring it but it is totally worth it. Don't you think so? I used colored pencils for coloring.

Next card is easy and simple.

I tried to create misty forest look. Done some ink blending on the bottom of the panel and stamped the tree stamp with various green inks. Sentiment is heat embossed in silver.

Feel inspired enough? If so go get the stamps as they are 35% off through the weekend.

Please hop on all the blogs and leave a comment on each one. One lucky winner will be announced on Moday who will get one stamp set free.

I Love Math Challenge #17

Hello Friends,

It is time for another Math challenge. Now on, all the challenges will run for 2 months so you all will have enough time to get inspired and play. This challenge is set by Å½eljka.

Math: Nine
Design: Card
Theme: Nature
Additional info:
Create a nature themed card using 9 elements (same or different) on your card. If you are using a sentiment, it’s counting as one element. Words are not counted separately.
Challenge starts: August 30th, 2020, 10:00 PM CEST (UTC +2)
Challenge ends: October 30th, 2020, 9:55 PM CEST (UTC +2)

Initially, I thought of creating a scene card but decided to do abstract in the end. When I was going through all the possible stamps I can use for it, the sentiment from an old SSS stamp jumped out at me.

"Adopt the pace of nature : her secret is patience ."

It is a beautiful quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I decided to use various elements of nature  from different stamps . To accommodate all the elements, I went with slimline card. It is 3.5* 8.25 inches.

9 elements are sea, earth, wind, fire, wood, snow, thunder, sun and sentiment.

Instead of plain background,
I used similar dies to provide some texture and relevant backdrop.

I hope you like my take on the challenge.
One winner will get one stamp set of Jane's Doodles.
Please visit Milka's blog HERE for more information on rules and details!

Thank you for being here. Have a wonderful day!

Itsy Bitsy Guest post- Postal Special

Hi there,

How have you been? Honestly, I am bored and frustrated with all this covid thing and uncertainties caused by it. I am waiting to get everything normal again but then they say we have to redefine the 'normal' as things are not going to be the same ever. There is only one thing which is keeping me sane is my crafting. I am experimenting with all kinds of mediums and arts but card-making will be my forever love. And I am glad that it is not going to change . Ever!

Today, I am sharing two cards made from a single stamp set. They are perfect examples how you can use same stamps and achieve different looks. I have used Postal Special stamp set.

Let's check the first card.

I have used same stamps to create background border on card, on envelope flap and to emboss on paper and used them as embellishments.

I masked the bottom part of the card front and stamp different postal marks with Little Birdie Pigment Inks . I have use second generation stamping as I wanted faded look for background. Please check my previous post HERE to learn the technique and to know more about these inks.

I added little bit of shadint with walnut stain distress ink.

Check the deckled edge it created.

Next, I stamped same stamps with same  inks on colored card stock and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Sentiment is stamped using versamark ink and embossed with white powder.

Arrange them in a cluster and mount them with foam tape for dimension.

I also stamped on envelop flap with tea dye distress ink and made an embossed seal using Handmade With Love stamp.

For the second card I combined the set with various die cuts to create an effective design.

I used one of the stamp from set with wings and embossed it twice on beige card stock. Fussy cut it to make wings beneath the heart. I used various postmark with a grey ink to stamp background on a light grey card base. I also used various dies from my stash to complete the look.

I used these wax beads and a heart stamp to create seal on the envelope. Yes, you can use little birdie stamps to make your customized seals.

That is all for today! I hope you enjoyed the process. Thinking out side of the box is the key to unique creativity. Keep crafting and stay safe!
Have a great day! Hugs!

Jane's Doodles blog hop- June 2020

Hi there,

How are you, friends? I hope you all are safe and healthy! I am here to share two cards made with newly released stamp sets Hydrangea & Home!

Hydrangea - NEW           Home - NEW!

Due to lockdown in India, I opted for digital version of stamps so there may be little size variation in my images.

I printed Hydrangea on water color paper and used water color pencils to color them.

I really had fun coloring this flower. I blew it up little bit before printing though!

Second set has images of old, Victorian houses. I googled few images for color inspiration and finally decided to use copics to color them.

I loved it! Fussy cutting was easy too...:P !

I hope you like  the cards.

All stamps are 30% off till Wednesday. There will be one lucky winner who can get one, free  stamp set of her choice.

Here is the hop list

That is all for today! Happy hopping!
