The Prism Effect

Hey friends,

Today, I have a simple card. I am one of the participant at 30 day artist challenge - a group on FB. In there, every Sunday we have to create something on given topic. Today's topic was 'shape' - we have to use any single shape to shape our idea & create an art.

I think of love as a prism which refract a simple ray of light and  fills your life with whole spectrum of colours. Love makes our life more brighter &  more colourful, just like prism.

So, I tried to translate this thought into a card. I have used Mamaelephant - Triefecta stamp set to create this card. I did partial stamping with the outline border stamp to create prism (triangle) & embossed it in silver and used single stamp with two shades of grey to fill the outlined image. The spectrum of light is created with a single stamp & different inks.

Hope you will like it. Thanks for visiting.

Softly - Penny Black

Hey there,

Today, I am sharing three cards made with one stamp - Softly from Penny Black. I just love this slap stick stamp. It is oversized and you can stamp multiple times depending on how dense or scattered you want your branches.

I have used just one technique for all the cards i.e. making background with distress inks, stamped and embossed the image and add more colours to flowers and leaves to make them stand out.

For first card, I have used Simonsays -Khaki  ink to  stamp the images multiple times & coloured it with distress inks. I just love the soft feel of this card.Sentiment is PTI.

For the second one, I created background with various distress inks, did partial stamping & embossed with silver embossing powder & coloured it with same shades of inks as background to get that tone on tone effect. Sentiment is from PTI.

For the last card, I just swoosh down (is that right word...?)  the distress ink pad from the top of a white CS  creating that amazing textured background. I stamped and embossed in white & coloured with Tombow markers. Sentiment is again  PTI.

Hope you will enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them...:)!
Bye for now ..... keep crafting!

ric#71 - In Memory of Oscar de la Renta

This is my second entry for Runway Inspired Challenge #71

There are so many inspirations and colours are black & white - one of my favourite combo.
So, here i go...

This is the image i use for inspiration.

...and here is my take. I created the lace by stamping PTI stamp on ivory-ish CS and embossed it with white powder. Layers are cut by Lawn Fawn's speech bubble border die. For flower, i die cut 3 flowers from balck CS- with a poinsettia die, and clear embossed to achieve that shine. I mounted layers with foam tape & added sentiment to finish it off.

A close up of that glistering flower embellishment.
Hope you will like it. Thanks for visiting.

ric#71 - In Memory of Oscar de la Renta

Hey there,

I am learning blogging & playing along challenges. It takes up so much time but at the end of the day it is making me very happy! (Please visit my FB page to see my journey before blogland!).

Today, i am playing along Runway Inspired Challenge. It is in the memory of Oscar de la Renta, an extremely talented and influential designer who passed away recently. The RIC team has decided to use his latest collection for inspiration.

Here is my inspiration image:

...and my take on it!

I tried to recreate that faded floral background by stamping random dots in various inks(i used back of the small stamps for stamping dots). I stamped feathers (PTI) in memento luxe - espresso truffle & added some shading with tombow markers.

...a close up!

The 'happy' stamp is from pti which i stamped thrice on scrap paper & trimmed it. I touched the edges of panel with black soot distress ink and mounted with foam tape. Added three strips to replicate upper part of dress. I finished it off with a sentiment from Avery Elle's Laurels set - embossed on vellum- coloured with tombow markers .

Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope you like my interpretation! Please leave a comment it means a lot - A LOT - to me...:). Happy crafting!

Ombré Thank You

Hello Friends,

It is a quick post today! A thank you card with lots of embossing & distress inks.

I started with embossing the chevron borders (PTI) in silver on a panel of white card stock.
Blend various distress inks in blue to get that Ombre effect. Cut two white & 2 black feathers with SSS die. I spattered white feathers with different inks & embossed the tips with gold embossing powder along with aged silver embossing enamel. I embossed sentiment (PTI) on vellum and fussy cut it. I cut the embossed panel length wise and insert silver glitter paper in between to create little drama and mounted it on white card base.

To finish it off, i added metal coin, metal ring charm, silver thread & some enamel dots.

I had fun making it. I hope you all will enjoy it as well.

Not just another card...

Hi there! Today i am sharing two cards. They are designed based on the  recipient's profession. ( i get lots of such request...how about you?) I tried to use my existing stamps in a different manner so they will help to develop a concept.

First  is a birthday card - made for a marketing executive. So i used elements like arrows, numbers, paper clips, @, graph etc. to develop the concept.  The graph paper is from regular diary cut with Papertrey ink die. I used SSS stamp to make a bar chart. Background is created with hero arts stencil and stamps are from Mamaelephant.

Second card was a thank you card for a poet. I did partial stamping - twice ,using Hero arts background stamp. Drew a line and some shading with chalk to create the illusion of binding. Added a sentiment and it was done.

It is fun to use your supply in a different way. Hope you enjoyed it.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

A Pear - learning something new

Hello Friends,

Today i want to share something different from my regular cards. Recently, I came across an amazing artist Betty Franks of Mystic Tulip Art. She is sharing her process so generously and has many tutorials on her YouTube videos. I love her free style and the way she creates layers of colours.

These are acrylics on paper inspired by  this video HERE.
Paper is 7" x 10" and colours are camel artist acrylics.

Few close ups.

Thank you for visiting me and hope you enjoyed it. Please leave me a comment if you like it....it matters a lot to me!
